Better Help
In this project case study, I will be sharing my experience designing a mobile app that provides psychology services to users around the world. The goal was to create an app that made it easy to understand, book sessions, track journal entries, and join group sessions.
Throughout the design process, I focused on creating an intuitive user interface that would enhance the overall user experience and encourage engagement with the app.

Process
Breaking down the project
The design process for the psychology mobile app involved several key stages. Firstly, I conducted extensive user research to understand the needs of therapy-goers and identify pain points with existing psychology apps.
Better Help's previous application felt impersonal, confusing, had dead ends, and was missing functionality. The main drop points included not being able to set an occurring scheduled session (independent each week), missing points to help distinguish between therapists, and having session sign-ups mixed into the chat feature.
Building on strong foundations
Based on this research, I developed user personas and created wireframes to map out the app’s functionality and structure. From there, I created a high-fidelity prototype and conducted user interviews to refine the design and improve the user experience. The final design included features such as a personalization to therapy bios, separated chat and session pages, and functionality to set up reoccurring sessions.
Outcome
The final outcome of the therapy mobile app was a user-friendly and approachable product that totally revamped the previously outdated and impersonal design.
Users are able to easily join group sessions, book reoccurring sessions, keep a journal, track upcoming meetings, all within a seamless and intuitive app experience.
